This page helps you identify the type of Adapter you have, and - if it is supported - gives you information how to configure JMRI to connect it.

X10 Adapters

hc60crx This adapter can be identified by the 4 pin RJ-11 connection on the bottom.
To use this with JMRI, select "Powerline Controller" in the JMRI preferences, the proper serial port, and "CM11" for the adapter.
This adapter is no longer in production. Only the Insteon 2412S is currently being produced.
Support is available starting in JMRI 2.1.3
X10.com CP290 cp290 This is a console-like adapter. It can also provides buttons for operating X10 devices.
To use this with JMRI, select "Powerline Controller" in the JMRI preferences, the proper serial port, and "CP290" for the adapter.
This adapter is no longer in production. Consider the Insteon 2412S as an alternative.
Support is available starting in JMRI 2.1.5
X10.com CM15A cm15a This is the adapter that comes with the ActiveHome Professional. Best identified by the USB connection on the bottom and an antenna on the side. Not Supported (yet). We hope to support it, pending USB support updates and somebody willing to test.

X10.com CM17A cm17a tm751 This device (top) depends on another X10 device that is the true controller, typically the TM751 device (bottom). While it is a serial device, it uses the RTS/DTS lines instead of the data lines. That lets the device work while having most other serial devices work through it. Not Supported.
Because of the tight timing and detailed hardware access these units require, it's unlikely we're going to support this device.

DMX Adapters

Hard to tell. Amazon give very few details. Mini USB to DMX512 - uDmx DMX512 usb interface The biggest issue is finding the right one. It must be a FTDI based USB that includes the serial port support in the drivers. Many do, but some do not. Support is available starting in JMRI 5.3.3
