This directory contains signalling definitions corresponding to the GE/RT8000 - S1 Rule Book as described in the June 2003 version of the "Signals and indicators controlling train movements", Module S1.
All definitions are suitable for Signal Mast Logic.
The signal masts are added to Layout Editor Block changes, with the exception of Buffer stops and Feather aspects.
The 2011 tutorial on Signal Mast Logic by Nigel Cliffe and Kevin Dickerson uses BR2003,
the video demonstrations are particularly helpful. http://jmri.org/community/clinics/UK2011/index.shtml
Note that the method for adding feathers has changed slightly since this clinic, however the
logic follows the same method.
Junction (Feather) indicators can be described using a Signal Mast. although its behaviour
needs to be set up manually, using either Routes or Logix.
When creating the mast disable any unused aspect positions. The mast needs at least 2 aspects
so always include the Zero aspect. as it will be used as an unlit status.
Add to a LE panel via the Signal Mast Icon button in the add item bar.
The Logix for the feather needs to have both the signal aspect AND turnout position(s) as
conditions.
Have the Logix acting on the feather signal mast, not the turnout which is controlling any
physical hardware.
These masts do not cover route (Theatre) indicators. They should be created via signal heads and controlled via logixs.
For three and four aspect signals, there are two options on how they can be built using
Signal Heads , the first is to use a single JMRI Signal Head to represent the main
Signal.
The second option is to build the signals using individual JMRI Signal Heads for each aspect.
Depending upon the configuration in both JMRI and the hardware, will depend upon whether all
the "flash" aspects are available.
Layouts using a CAN event-based system may be better off using Output Matrix or Turnout Controlled Signal Masts, see an example at MERG CBUS Signalling
The images used for BR2003 can be found in this folder, all have a transparent background.
The images are of 3 types, Aspects which show a Green / Red / Yellow signal mast icon,
along with "Large" which show a more prototypical graphic, and Medium which
provides schematic semaphores at a smaller size.
